This past Saturday started out pretty sad but thanks to Eros it ended on a very sunny note.
The day started out with me doing what I seem to do daily…surfing the job boards for a job. I’ve gotten pretty used to this activity over the last month. However, on this particular day the realization that my severance pay would soon be ending set in. After this month, there will be no more big checks rolling in from Revol. Boo-hiss!! So on Saturday, I began not only applying for the big dollar jobs but the low level hourly jobs as well. Let’s face it, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. I knew this day would come but I was not prepared for the emotional toll it was going to have on me. As a hit the submit button for the hourly Target job I was overcome with a feeling of failure. How is it that I have arrived at a place in life where I’m applying to be a cashier. Not that I think that cashiers are less than others, I just never saw myself as needing to take on sure a role.
During this time Eros was on the back deck taking in the sun as I went out to join him, I just broke down in tears. I’ve totally lived my life as if the money was always gonna be there and now that it’s not, I’m scared. Anyway, at the site of my tears, Eros suggested that we get out on the house to enjoy the day. I love that about him. Even though he’d tell you that he is a pessimist he seems to find the words to offer me hope.
So we set out to enjoy the day.
Stop 1 – The West Side Market, Cleveland’s oldest publicly owned market, that began in 1840. If you’re in the market for fresh fruit and produce you want to check out The West Side Market. Since we were not in the market for either, our vist was more like speed window shopping.
Stop 2 – Bar Cento, this was actually a nice surprise. I had found this place on the internet and added it to the places that I want to visit in Cleveland. I guess I didn’t really take note of where the place was located because I was surprised that it was right across from The West Side Market. If you know me, you know that I’m all about the atmosphere of an establishment and based on that Bar Cento did not disappoint. Nice set up, decent menu selections, reasonable prices.
Stop 3 – The Great Lakes Brewing Company. Again, nice place. I had actually been here before, but it was years ago with some of my classmates from Cleveland State. I don’t drink beer so that’s probably why I had not been back. However, on a sunny warm November day, The Great Lakes Brewing Company was a cool place to hang out.
Stop 4- Edgewater Park. Eros wanted to go to a park so we went to the lake. The lake was beautiful…nothing but water for miles and miles and miles.
Stop 5 – The Divine Wine Bar – I love this place. The wine is great…the cheese is awesome…and the atmosphere can’t be beat.
Stop 6 – The Tequila Ranch – We just stopped into this bar so Eros could ride the mechanical bull. That was a site to see. He did pretty good. To all my Facebook friends check out the video.
Stop 7 – Eros has been asking me to take him to a hood spot. Now, if you have not figured it out, I’m not really a hood spot kinda girl so I’ve been at a loss as to where we could go. A few years back I went to a ghetto spot, don’t ask me why, on the east side so I thought we could try that place. We’ll the name had changed since my last visit but the place was still ghetto.
In all, a day that started with me crying over my current employment status ended with me having a really great day. Thanks Eros!
